In my mind, the number one issue that I have with StatusNet anymore is the lack of proper privacy control between instances. Sure, most of the crap I post here doesn’t mean much of anything. I’d really like to limit the audience when I want. Ever try to send a direct message to another person on another instance? Doesn’t work at all.

It used to not bother me, if you don’t want it public on the web, don’t post it on the web. But, other platforms (#diaspora, #pumpio, #friendica, ...) have it working and working well. And the more I see/use it elsewhere, the more I feel it’s severely needed in StatusNet. But, since I really have no control, I’m losing interest.

Hopefully, the #GNUSocial team will consider this as top priority. Otherwise, meh.

And, I’m not posting this as a “XYZ” platform is better then “ZYX”. There’s too much of that crap going on in the fediverse as it is. This is honestly a serious problem with the software in my opinion.
