@tandy @tandy if you're in the US check out http://www.arrl.org/what-is-ham-radio (follow the links on the left sidebar) and look for a VEC (folks who give the tests) or club near you. there are three license classes in the US. Technician is the entry level and is pretty easy to acquire. I recommend picking up the ARRL technician study guide and going through the practice questions on qrz.com.
