Running into interesting problems being a Free Software Advocate and a dad. My son enjoys the heck out of !minetest but his friends, naturally talk about # and he sees Minecraft themed Legos occasionally. He's not once asked to play Minecraft (though he has played it in the past, I think) but he asks me if he can have the same monsters in minetest. I know there's zombies and ghosts but I'm not sure about spiders and things like a bow and arrow. I know a day will come when he asks me to purchase some piece of proprietary software for him. I'm trying to figure out if I'm going to be inclined to do so or not. With my wife, I take the live and let live approach. She's welcome to use proprietary software, that's her decision. I don't know why I should treat my son any differently. I may just make whatever purchase it is and explain that I don't care to use whatever software it is and let him know why I think it's a bad idea. # # #
